Origins of Reiki
Energy: Everything in the universe is made of energy. It is the foundation of all creation and the force that connects and sustains all existence.
Universal Life Force: The idea of a universal life force exists in many ancient traditions. In Indian Ayurvedic medicine and yoga, it is known as Prana. In traditional Chinese medicine, it is referred to as Chi or Qi, which is called Ki in Japanese. In some interpretations of Christian tradition, references to “Light” are believed to point to this same vital energy. It is the essence of life — when this force leaves the body, life ceases to be.
Everything in the universe is energy and so are you. The truth is you are more powerful than you could ever dream of. Universal energy is a uniting force. This concept is known in cultures and in religions globally as different names eg. Prana in Yoga and Ayurveda, Chi in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ki in Japanese and by some Christians known as The Light.
If there’s no energy, Prana or Light in a body, it means there’s no life or life has departed.
What does Reiki means?
Reiki means Universal Life Energy, Rei mean Universal or Trancendental sprit, Ki represent Life force Energy.

Reiki was founded by Mikao Usui.
Mikao Usui
He was born in 15 August 1865 in a village Miyamo Cho in Japan and he left his body in 1926. His family was Hatomoto Samurai, which is a high rank within the Samuari system. He had two brothers and a sister. He studied with Tendai Buddhist monk and studied martial arts.
He was interested in everything from medicine, history and psychology to the more esoteric arts and divination. He travelled to Europe and America and studied in China. He married a woman called Sadako Suzuki, and they had two children. His daughter Toshiko died in the age of 22 and his son Fuji died in the age of 38.
